• The President's December 2010 Letter

Bill Roy, CMAC President

First, I would like to thank the members who volunteer their time on the board of directors. It takes time and effort by the officers and the members who year in and year out continue to pitch in and do all the jobs it takes to keep our fields ready to fly and all the other club activities happening.

I would like to thank the members who volunteer their time for the work. This club would not succeed without the continued help of its members.

Every month
Ray Hinds gets the newsletter put together. Our newsletter is the best way to keep the general membership current on the goings on of the club. Anyone who has something of interest should send it in for publication, it’s always welcome and greatly appreciated.

Jon Sinish takes care of the club’s website, it is well maintained and updated monthly. Every month you get an E mail notifying you of the meeting and any other special notices. He maintains and keeps track of everyone’s E mail address so if you change your address please make sure it gets updated.

Having the website always up to date and getting the newsletter out is a way to keep the members who don’t attend the meetings current with what is going on in the club. Thanks to Ray and Jon for their effort in getting this accomplished.

For those of you who come to the meetings we always have coffee and donuts.
Russ Tanner takes care of bringing the coffee and donuts.

For the club's Fun Flys
Rich Roberts is always ready to step in and run the show with help from Bill Jennings and Jack Tyson.

All the members who take the time to mow the Monroe Field and maintain the mower and those who make the time for the maintenance and work party’s at the Plymouth Field.

Each year we continue to face new challenges maintaining the Plymouth Field and the continuing search to find a closer field.

December Holiday Party (see photos below)

This has been the third year that CMAC, WHERCC and TILRCC have gotten together. This year the party was held at Vazzy’s in Shelton and it was a very enjoyable evening for everyone and a good way to get into the holiday spirit.

Next Membership Meeting

Our next membership meeting is April 15, 2011 and it’s also our 35th annual Winter Build Contest. By the time you read this it will be officially winter and it’s a win - win situation. If it too cold for you to fly it’s a good time to start a project to enter in the Winter Build Contest if the cold doesn’t stop you from flying the days are already starting to get longer.

Indoor Flying Starts in January

Starting in January thru at least March we will have use of the gym for indoor flying. Refreshments in our regular meeting room at 8:00 PM and the gym will be available by 8:30PM.

Plymouth Field Work

We hade to submit a sketch and a work plan so we can fill in the area where the old container was.
That has been approved and will be on the spring agenda of things to take care of.

Plymouth Field WINTER Gate Rules Started Monday, October 11, 2010.

Winter Gate Rules went into effect after Columbus Day, the second Monday in October when the first gate is kept locked at all times. With the first gate locked cars can’t get locked in, so when we are at the field we can leave the second gate open while making sure to lock it shut when the last member leaves.

Make sure that our lock, the rangers lock and small pin is locked to the large pipe. If not secured it has the chance of getting taken or lost.

If you come to the field and the First gate is open, then you have to lock the second gate closed just to be safe.

Following the rules will prevent somebody from driving in and getting locked in.

You can check out the web site for the Army Corps of Engineers Hancock Brook Lake at http://www.nae.usace.army.mil/recreati/hnk/hnkhome.htm and if you go to recreation you can select model airplane club and you can get to our web site.

The current weather and wind is also available from their site at http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Plymouth&state=CT&site=ALY&textField1=41.6526&textField2=-73.0406&e=0

Monroe Field

Field access weather permitting is Monday thru Friday flying is 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Saturday’s are for electrics and four stroke glow engines up to .75 cu in from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Please follow the rules at both of our fields. We basically have use of these fields for no cost other than maintaining them for our use. The owners set the rules and we need to obey them. It’s really pretty simple
Listed down below is the complete set of rules for flying at the Monroe Field.

Remember to fly safely, don’t fly alone, follow the rules and have a good time.

The Officers wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Bill

Not only will you know when others a planning to fly, the group makes it easy to tap into the knowledge and experience of the other folks in the club when you have a question about a model your working on. Items of interest are also passed along which may not be timely to get in the newsletter.

I hope to see you at the field. If you have any questions, please contact me.

The Rules:
SUMMER Gate Rules In Effect Starting Saturday, April 17, 2010.

SUMMER GATE RULES GO INTO EFFECT THE THIRD SATURDAY IN APRIL (APRIL 17, 2010)

Spring and Summer: Gate 1: The first gate is open all Spring and Summer and is locked up on Columbus day. If you find the first gate open, leave it open. If you find the first gate locked, open with your key. Close the gate behind you and put the bar in and lock it.
When you lock the gate, CMAC's lock is on one side of the pin and the Army Corp' s lock is on the other side of the pin. This allows the police department, rangers and fire department to enter. Please do not put CMAC's lock thru the bar restricting their access.
If you are the last person out, put the pin in and lock the gate behind you. Again, only if you found the first gate locked. Proceed to the second gate (about 2/10 mile). Unlock this gate or pull the pin, go through and close the gate behind you and put the pin in.

Spring and Summer: Gate 2: Proceed to the second gate. Unlock this gate, go through and close the gate behind you and LOCK IT. The second gate is ALWAYS KEPT LOCKED.
When you lock the gate, CMAC's lock is on one side of the pin and the Army Corp' s lock is on the other side of the pin. Please do not put CMAC's lock thru the bar restricting access to the rangers, police and fire departments.
Never fly alone. Plymouth is in the woods. If you got in trouble, people may not find you for days.

Winter gate rules go into effect after Columbus Day when the first gate is kept locked at all times. With the first gate locked cars can’t get locked in, so when we are at the field we can leave the second gate open while making sure to lock it shut when the last member leaves.

Make sure that our lock, the Rangers' lock and small pin is locked to the large pipe. If not secured, it has the chance of getting taken or lost.

If you come to the field and the First gate is open, then you have to lock the second gate closed just to be safe.

Following the rules will prevent somebody from driving in and getting locked in.
